Privacy Policy
Arkaan is a Muslim companion app providing prayer times, Qibla direction, daily Quran verses, and home/lock screen widgets. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
Location Data
What: Your device's GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude).
Why: To calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction for your location.
How: Location is requested only when needed. Coordinates are processed on-device and cached locally. We do not transmit your coordinates to any server.
Reverse Geocoding: Your coordinates may be sent to a geocoding service to determine your city name for display purposes. This is the only network request involving location data, and it is optional — the app functions fully without it.
Device Sensors
Compass: We access your device's magnetometer/compass sensor to determine Qibla direction. Sensor data is never stored or transmitted.
App Settings & Preferences
Stored locally on your device using system storage (SharedPreferences on Android, UserDefaults on iOS). This includes:
- Calculation method and madhab preference
- Notification preferences per prayer
- Language and display settings
- Widget theme (Pro users)
- Hijri date offset
- Pro subscription status
None of this data leaves your device except as described in the Subscriptions section below.
No Account Required
Arkaan does not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect analytics or usage telemetry
- We do not serve advertisements
- We do not track your behavior across apps or websites
- We do not collect or store prayer history or personal schedules
- We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or photos
Subscriptions (Arkaan Pro)
Arkaan Pro is managed through RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service. When you purchase a Pro subscription:
- Payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) — we never see your payment details
- RevenueCat receives a purchase token to verify your entitlement
- RevenueCat may collect device identifiers and transaction metadata per their own privacy policy

Notifications
If you enable prayer notifications, we schedule local notifications on your device. These are processed entirely on-device — no notification data is sent to external servers.
Home & Lock Screen Widgets
Widget data (prayer times, Quran verses, theme settings) is stored in an App Group container (iOS) or SharedPreferences (Android) on your device. This data is not transmitted to any server.

We do not integrate advertising SDKs, analytics platforms, or social login providers.
Children's Privacy
Arkaan does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. The app does not require account creation and collects no personal information, making it safe for all ages.
Data Storage & Security
All app data is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. Your settings and preferences remain on your device and are subject to your device's own security (passcode, biometrics, encryption).
Your Rights
Because we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, most data rights requests (access, deletion, portability) are fulfilled by managing your own device:
- Delete app data: Uninstall the app or clear app data in device settings
- Revoke location permission: Via device Settings → Arkaan → Location
- Revoke notification permission: Via device Settings → Arkaan → Notifications
- Cancel subscription: Via App Store or Google Play subscription management

Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Significant changes will be noted in the app update release notes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Arkaan is built with privacy by design — offline-first, no ads, no tracking.
